John Logie Baird was credited for being the creator of television.  Lord Reith was the director of the BBC. Britain had been in a race with the rest of Europe to get the first television broadcast. The first large scale broadcast was done in 1936. Baird and Reith were in a large disagreement for a long time, had they been willing to work together then tv may have reached new heights at a much faster rate.  Tv began to be broadcast after the radio had been ended using the bbc transmitter. The tv progression slowed as scientists were transferred for the development of Radar. Radio had become heavily relied on until Ally Pally took off again with a mickey mouse cartoon. Tv was used to help the people get on with life after the war. In the 1940’s and 50’s the soap opera genre developed.

Media products are produced and distributed to audiences in different ways. I Daniel Blake was produced as an independent film as it had little funding with aid from multiple production companies including; BBC films, Wild Bunch, Why Not Productions and the BFI. Independent films are funded by public funding e.g. the national lottery, by individual investment where people bring their own money and through co-productions where multiple companies come together to produce and distribute the media, splitting the costs and profits. Most British independent films including I Daniel Blake fall under the drama genre as they can be cheaper to make; due to a lack of difficulty in filming and editing with things such as CGI; and to fund due to filming on set(i Daniel Blake was filmed all in newcastle) and they have the biggest audience in Britain.
