applying audience theory to tide and water aid

Cultivation theory
In the tide advert the people who produced the advert are trying to convince women that the product is an essential for them, as well as persuading them to embrace their domestic role as a wife and mother carrying out the household tasks, in an attempt to restore patriarchal equilibrium that existed at the time through the use of the cultivation theory.
In the water aid advert it is trying to make the message clear to the viewers that what is included within the advert, are not false images but are real issues that are occuring in the world, by showing peoples struggles, the audience is made aware of the extent of the suffering of others and that they are able to make a difference.
