Skyfall

Hero- The hero in the film skyfall is undoubtedly James Bond. This is a well known hero character across a series of films. In this film specifically he is given a task to complete in which he is faced with some major challenges such as the audience being led to believe initially that he actually died. However in the end James Bond is successful in completing his mission and foiling the villains plans.

Villain- The villain in the film skyfall is an ex-agent called Silva. Although he is the main villain of the film, like in many James Bond movies, his identity is not revealed until further into the film when some of his criminal acts have been committed and the hero has done some hard work in discovering who the unknown villain is that he has to defeat.

Princess- The princess in the film skyfall is a character called M. The first signs that she is the princess role in the filn is when a threat is made on her life early on in the film and a scare attack on her workplace occurs. It becomes evident that she is the princess role when the hero is defending her and trying to save her from multiple enemies who are attempting to kill them.

Mentor- The mentor role in the film skyfall is taken up by the character of Gareth Mallory, who happems to be the hero’s boss. Throughout the film Gareth Mallory is trying to pass on advice and wisdom onto James Bond just as the mentor would in order to assist in the mental strengthening of the hero/protagonist.

Helper- The helper role on the film Skyfall is taken up by the character of Eve who is James Bonds field work assistant. She works with James Bond on his missions and it his her job to help him conplete them, therefore by job description she carries out the helper role.

False hero- The false hero in the film skyfall is a female character called Severine, who isnt actually the typical type of false hero whom you believe to be a hero and becomes a villain but is more of a minor roll yet still a traitor. Her role is to gain the heros trust just to lure him in. The hero is lead to believe she is helping him when actually she is setting him up.

Dispatcher- The dispatcher roll in the film skyfall is carried out by the character of Tanner, who works for the MI5 agency in a more administritive roll. Throughout the film Tanner is required to brief James Bond of his tasks and missions, setting the hero his challenges which therefore makes him the distributor.

i daniel blake, production and distribution

Media products are produced and distributed to audiences in different ways. I Daniel Blake was produced as an independent film as it had little funding with aid from multiple production companies including; BBC films, Wild Bunch, Why Not Productions and the BFI. Independent films are funded by public funding e.g. the national lottery, by individual investment where people bring their own money and through co-productions where multiple companies come together to produce and distribute the media, splitting the costs and profits. Riptide narrative codes and conventions

In the Riptide music video there are elements of coherence throughout where by montage is used to constantly go back to shots of the woman as well as the sea where the riptides are. This consistency throughout is clear evidence of coherence. There is evidence of postmodernism in the video through the key postmodern aspect of nostalgia where the lyrics state what the singer was once scared of and with the lyrics matching the visuals this puts additional emphasis on the sense of nostalgia, showing this music videos postmodern approach. The riptide is very literal and relates to roland barthes theory that constructed meanings can come to seem self evident. We can see this throughout as when the lyrics are song the images displayed are matching and this therefore makes a very obvious meaning showing they mean exactly what they are saying, with clear cut connotations.
