statement of aims

In my media production I will use a variance of media language. Editing techniques I will use are shot revers shot, in order to show a conversation along with the changes from high to low angle shots to create connotations of confrontation and social hierarchy. I will use an abundance of close-ups throughout in order to show the emotion of the characters which is standard within the drama genre. I will use mise en scene in my media production through the costumes that the characters wear. Both the mother and son well be dressed in cheap tracksuits for example slazenger. This is in order to represent their social status and to show that they have a struggle for money, demonstrated by the cheapness of the clothing and the common associations created by the use of a cheap tracksuit. This stereotypically being that of a CHAV, this is accurate in the sense that the characters are council housed, thus being further evidence of the characters poverty. The effect of this is that it is supporting a main theme of my media production, which is actually poverty, demonstrating the daily struggles that the characters are put through.

In my media production the main groups represented will be vulnerable and influential teenage boys and struggling single mothers. I will show the financial instability of both of these groups as they will both be dressed in cheap tracksuits with rugged hair and bags under their eyes. I will get the actor to portray the mother in a way where emotional stress and a lack of support has caused her to become an unstable parent as well as an unstable person. This showing the real struggle that single parents face in the modern world when raising a child with a lack of support. The young boy will demonstrate the vulnerability of youths in the streets and how easily the industry of crime including that of drugs can access them via gang intimidation, desperation and even from simply the specific area in which it is that they are growing up in.

My target audience is a global adult audience, specifically that of males and females aged eighteen to forty. The production will appeal to a young audience by relating to the youthful protagonist; and the common struggles that he faces; as well as the interesting crime fuelled storyline. It will also appeal to older adults through the relatable social struggles of parenthood that she faces as well as the social issues that are addressed across the media production. I will target the psychographic of the struggler as they will be able to relate to the storyline and the social issues that are included such as poverty, hunger and intimidation. I will also target the mainstream psychographic by drawing their attention to the reality of society and similarities to the routine that they live.

My media production will conform to the conventions of the drama genre by addressing real life issues. It will be appealing to non commercial stations by representing E class citizens.
